At the moment, I am working together with an organization Tourism Development Society (TDS) Dhangadi Kailali Nepal. This organisation is working together with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to promote tourism in the area of fast western Nepal. Till now, there is not much of tourism activities not because the area is not nice but because of the fact that this area is very far from the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu and it has not been a culture of traveling in the far western region. Different travel companies offer this type of trekking with a very expensive price because but we plan to sleep in the homes of the villagers and pay them 2-4 Euro for the overnight stay. So you need to take a sleeping bag with you.

Besides my official work, I am engaged in social
work for the Nepali community and I work especially for those who are in need
of social help. A short project which we started in Germany together with other
friends can be read in
I also like to trek, especially, in the remote areas
of Nepal where we see the real Nepali traditional life, living style; and we
have a chance to compare the living style with the developed countries like in
Germany.
This time, we (nearly 6-8) are planning for a trekking in Khaptad-Rara Lake area. This trekking will start on 1st April form Dhangadi and will end on 20th April
in Nepalganj, Nepal. If have interest to travel with us, please let us know. I would be very glad to guide you voluntarily.

If you take a flight from Germany to Delhi, it would
be the nicest opportunity to make a trekking in this area by entering to Nepal
from the far western border. This is because far western region is very close
to Delhi. If you fly to Kathmandu, then you can take a bus to
Either Nepalganj or Dhangadi.

Travel form Delhi, India (or from other parts of India) to Dhangadi, Nepal:
Dhangadi is the far western part of Nepal very close to Uttar Pradesh of India.
To arrive Dhangadi, you can choose the following boarder: Banbasaa

If you fly form Germany to Kathmandu, then my friends will receive you in Kathmandu and will help you to take a bus from Kathmandu to Dhangadi. The alternative way is to take a flight from Kathmandu airport to Dhangadi.

We will take bus from Dhangadi to Silghari Doti . The bus ride will be 6 hours and will stay in Silghadi. Please look the place in google map:

Khaptad National park is very holy and in April, the mountains are snow capped.Some of my friends have suggested to visit Ramaroshan lakes nearby but we have to find out if it is possible to go there. The area of Ramaroshan consists of 12 lakes and 18 breathtakingly lustrous green pastures, locally known as Patans.To the North there is an unbroken series of sedimentary rock faces where the local people harvest honey from sheer 100 m high cliffs. Ramaroshan commands a spectacular view of the Budhiganga basin along with the majestic peaks of Mt. Api, Saipal, Malika. The photos of this area can be found in

Both of the above mentioned links are explaining trek from Rara Lake to Khaptad because they are mostly assuming that travellers are coming to Kathmandu first and then they start their tour from Kathmandu. However for our case, it is just the reverse.

ReplyDelete...ein Kleinod in der Berliner Gastro-Szene – und das nicht nur wegen der hervorragenden, bereits mehrfach ausgezeichneten Küche. Inhaber Falindra Chaulagain bietet nepalesisch-tibetisch-indische Gerichte in angenehm unaufdringlichem und dennoch stilvollem Ambiente:
Alle Hauptgerichte werden mit lockerem Basmati-Reis und Salat serviert; das typische Bhatura (frittiertes Weißmehlbrot) kommt für 1,50 Euro leider unaufgefordert aber durchaus lecker dazu. Es gibt Tagesangebote (5-6 Euro) am Nachmittag, sechs verschiedene Menüs für eine (ab 14 Euro) bis sechs Personen (ab 62 Euro). Ein Lieferservice bzw. Catering gehören ebenfalls zum Service (Bestellannahme 12-22.45 Uhr, Mindestbestellwert: 8,90 Euro, Anfahrt: 0 Euro, bei Bestellungen ab 15 Euro gibt’s ein Bhatura-Brot gratis (Angaben laut Internet).
Vorspeisen z.B. Papadam-Teller, drei knusprige Fladen aus Hülsenfrüchteteig mit drei Saucen ab 2,10 Euro. Hauptgerichte z.B. nepalesisches Chicken- oder Lamm-Curry ab 6,40 Euro, vieles für Vegetarier ab 5,90 Euro z.B. ein Gericht aus dem Himalaya: Gebratene Kartoffeln mit Zwiebeln, Tomaten und nepalesischen Gewürzen.
Das Wesentliche am Karma ist die freundliche, zuvorkommende und dabei nicht aufdringlich wirkende Art, wie der Gast empfangen und bedient wird. Empfangen wird jeder Gast mit einem Safttrunk auf Kosten des Hauses und verabschiedet wird er, so gewünscht, mit einem auch alkoholischen Getränk nach Wahl. Tja, so war das früher bei meinem Italiener an der Friedenauer Rheinstraße und an manchen Orten ist das vielleicht auch heute noch so. Im Karma auf jeden Fall.
Mein Essen steht schnell vor mir auf Wärmeplatten auf dem Holztisch und mein Platz in der Nähe der dezent hinter einer Holzklappe versteckten Durchreiche zur Küche lässt mich erkennen, welch lecker duftende Gerichte, manchmal durchaus noch dampfend, andere Gäste bestellt haben. Gäste übrigens, die an einem Tag mitten in der Woche am frühen Abend in Berlin reichlich da waren. Auf der Toilette traf ich jemanden, der bis aus dem schon einige Kilometer entfernten Ostteil der Stadt angereist war, wegen des guten Rufes, den das Karma – seit zwei Jahren am Start – genießt, abgesehen davon, dass der Mann, der vor der Tür rauchte, als ich noch die Speisekarte im Aushang betrachtete, mir empfahl: → "Sie brauchen gar nicht lesen, einfach irgendwas bestellen, es schmeckt alles!"
Zur Ausstattung des Lokals ist zu sagen, dass sich die Betreiber auf Minimalismus beschränkt haben, der aber nicht stört, sondern passt. Holztische ohne Tischtuch, dafür mit dezenter Kerzenbeleuchtung, Holzstühle mit Polstern, ein Tresen gegenüber dem Eingang aus Holz mit ein paar Barhockern und weiter hinten, an der Tür zur Sommer-Terrasse, auch eine kleine Polsterküchenbank an einer größeren Tafel, an der bis zu zehn Gäste Platz finden; ansonsten Zweier- und Vierertische, zumeist entlang der Fenster aufgestellt.Und ja, für die räumliche Gestaltung, für das besondere Ambiente sorgte der Berliner Maler Burkard Witzmann, der für seine einmalige Art der Raumgestaltung bekannt ist und schon die Gestaltung anderer wohlbekannter und geschätzter Gastronomiebetriebe nicht nur in Berlin besorgt hat. An der Wand rechts vom Eingang empfängt den Gast ein überdimensionales Augenpaar und auf dem Weg die Treppe hinab zu den gepflegten Toiletten schaut ein buddhistischer Mönch auf einen herab. Nepalesisch-tibetische Motive und Gegenstände, geschmackvoll und auch sparsam angebracht, lassen den Gast, ob hungrig oder nicht, zum Betrachten verweilen und im Karma kann es jemandem gehen wie beim Betrachten eines guten Gemäldes: Je länger man es anschaut, desto mehr Dinge entdeckt man.
